Our friend Matthew Wyne of Letters & Liquor is not just a fantastic lettering artist. Nay, he is also an artiste when it comes to adult beverages. He worked up a custom cocktail recipe just for Craft Spirits Week, which features a bounty of Cali-centric spirits.
The Pear Pair
2 oz Ventura Spirits Opuntia
1 oz St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur
.5 oz fresh lime juice
1 dropper 7 Stills Prickly Pear Bitters
Ventura Spirits Opuntia exemplifies the California farm to bottle ethos with its innovative distillation of local prickly pear fruit. To highlight this fresh, unique flavor, I used two more local products, St. George’s Spiced Pear liqueur and 7 Stills’ Prickly Pear bitters, plus just a touch of fresh lime. The result keeps the Opuntia in the forefront, highlighting its delicate fruit and beautiful bouquet.
